Hamamatsu Municipal Zoo is a family-friendly stop in the Kanzanji area, near Lake Hamana. It is not the main reason to visit Hamamatsu, but it can be a good addition if you are already heading out to the lake or travelling with children.
The zoo sometimes opens for special evening hours in autumn, which gives it more appeal than a routine daytime animal park. Check current hours before making the trip from central Hamamatsu.
