Ryōtan-ji Temple

Ryōtan-ji Temple is best known for its garden, a nationally designated scenic beauty, and for the nightingale floor in its main hall. The boards make a faint bird-like sound underfoot, a simple old security device that turns walking through the hall into part of the visit.

The temple is also tied to the Ii clan, whose early history is remembered in a well on the south side of the grounds.
