Maizuru Castle Park is the easiest historic stop in Kofu, just southeast of the station. Kofu Castle lost most of its buildings in the 19th century, but the surviving stone walls, reconstructed gatehouses, and raised terraces still give the place weight.
It is more city park than grand castle, which is part of its charm. Locals pass through on ordinary errands while the walls frame views across the basin.
