Senjojiki Cirque is the big prize above Komagane: a glacial bowl under Mount Hoken, reached by bus and the Komagatake Ropeway. The lift climbs from the forest to high alpine terrain in minutes, which makes the place popular with walkers, photographers, and hikers heading deeper into the Central Alps.
Go early, especially in autumn. Lines can be long, weather changes quickly, and the mountain is much colder than town even when Komagane feels mild.
