Toki Forest Park is the public face of Sado's Japanese crested ibis conservation work. The bird, called toki in Japanese, became a symbol of the island after wild populations collapsed; today the park lets visitors see ibis up close and understand the breeding and release programme.
It is not a zoo in the grand sense. The point is the story: rice farming, habitat protection, and a patient attempt to repair damage done over generations.
