Wada House is one of Ogimachi's strongest single house visits. The building is large, beautifully proportioned, and full of the practical details that make gassho-zukuri architecture work: heavy beams, high attic space, hearth smoke, and a roof built for deep snow.
It is still more house than museum, which is the charm. Come early or late in the day if you can, because the rooms are far better when they are not packed with tour groups.
