The Yamamoto Kanae Memorial Gallery introduces the painter and printmaker Yamamoto Kanae, who worked in oils and woodblock prints. He is also remembered for encouraging children to draw freely from life rather than copy models from books.
The gallery is a modest but worthwhile Ueda stop for visitors interested in Japanese printmaking, local art, and early modern art education.
