Asahibashi Bridge

Sturdy 1930s bridge over the Ishikari River, still one of Asahikawa's clearest civic landmarks.

Asahibashi Bridge is a handsome steel bridge across the Ishikari River and one of Asahikawa's most recognisable landmarks. It is not a long visit, but it gives a good sense of the city's river setting and industrial-era confidence.

In winter the area around the bridge becomes part of the Asahikawa Winter Festival. In warmer months it connects naturally with riverside walks and cycling paths.
