Bogaku-dai is an observation deck and trailhead below Mount Tokachi-dake. The draw is the open view across the volcanic slopes, with the mountain weather changing fast enough to make even a short stop feel dramatic.
It is most useful if you are heading toward Tokachi-dake or touring the Shirogane area by car. Check conditions before treating it as the start of a hike.
