Shikisai-no-Oka is the most polished of Biei's flower stops, a large hillside garden planted in broad coloured bands. From late spring into autumn the fields move through tulips, lupines, lavender, salvia, sunflowers, dahlias, and other seasonal flowers, with the Tokachi mountains behind them on clear days.
It is popular and not subtle, but it works: the scale of the rows makes the garden feel part of the hill country rather than a small display bed. In winter the site shifts toward snow activities, which makes it more than a one-season photo stop.
