Shirahige Falls

White-beard waterfall spilling from a cliff into the blue Biei River near Shirogane Onsen.

Shirahige Falls drops straight from gaps in the cliff into the Biei River, which is already tinted that unreal Shirogane blue. The name means "white beard", and from the bridge the thin streams do look like pale strands hanging over the gorge.

Pair it with the Blue Pond rather than treating it as a separate excursion. In winter, ice, snow, and the blue river make the short viewing stop especially sharp.
