The Otaru Music Box Museum is part museum, part shop, and fully in line with Sakaimachi's nostalgic mood. Displays cover the development of music boxes, while the store side ranges from small souvenirs to elaborate mechanical pieces.
It is touristy, but it is also very Otaru: charming, a little sentimental, and housed in the old commercial quarter where visitors naturally end up walking.
