Nagoya Castle Ruins are not in Nagoya, but on the coast outside Karatsu. Toyotomi Hideyoshi built a vast base here in the 1590s for his invasions of Korea, drawing warlords from across Japan to a temporary military city.
The keep is gone, but the stone walls and wide site still make the scale clear. The nearby museum helps connect the ruin to Japan's wider, uncomfortable history with Korea.
