Yunangi is one of the most respected traditional Okinawan restaurants in Naha, occupying an old wooden house near Kokusai Street. The menu covers the full range of classic dishes: goya champuru (bitter melon stir-fry with egg and pork), soki soba (pork rib noodle soup), mimiga (pig's ear salad), and rafute (braised pork belly in a rich soy and awamori sauce).
The atmosphere is warm and izakaya-style — you are expected to drink as well as eat, and the awamori list is serious. The house speciality awamori cocktails are a good introduction for those unfamiliar with the spirit. The restaurant fills up by early evening and reservations are a good idea.
