Wakimachi Theater opened in 1934 for kabuki and popular storytelling before becoming a cinema and then falling out of use. It was restored after being chosen as a film location, and that rescue gives the building a pleasing second act.
The theatre is close enough to the Udatsu street to make an easy pair. Even when there is no performance, the building gives a good sense of small-town entertainment before television took over.
