Tokushima Prefectural Museum

Cultural Forest complex housing the prefecture's main museum

Part of the Bunka-no-Mori (Cultural Forest) complex south of the city centre, this is the prefecture's flagship museum, covering the natural and human history of Tokushima from prehistoric fossils through the indigo dye trade that made the Hachisuka domain rich in the Edo period.

The same forested campus contains the Prefectural Art Museum and the Modern Literature Museum, all sharing a single ticket. A free shuttle bus connects the complex to Bunkanomori Station; allow at least half a day if you want to see all three.
