Utou Shrine is a quiet Shinto shrine in central Aomori, within walking distance of the station and waterfront museums. Behind the main shrine buildings are small gardens and ponds that make it a calm break from the busier sights nearby.
Visitors also stop at the shrine's coin-washing fountain, a local "power spot" associated with good fortune and money.
