Geibi-kei Gorge is a scenic river gorge near Ichinoseki, often listed among Japan's notable landscapes. Flat-bottomed boats carry visitors upstream between steep rock walls, with Buddhist carvings and quiet river views along the way.
It is one of the better nature breaks in the Hiraizumi area, especially if you want a slow trip on the water rather than another temple stop.
