Mount Kinka

Mount Kinka rises to 445 metres in the middle of the island, high enough to turn a short day trip into a proper walk. The trail climbs from the shrine through old cedar forest, with side views over the Oshika Peninsula and the Pacific when the trees open.

The loop is only about five and a half kilometres, but it is not a casual seaside stroll. Wear shoes with grip, bring water, and keep an eye on the ferry time. The reward is a rare kind of quiet: shrine bells below, deer in the woods, and open sea around almost every break in the ridge.
