Oga Aquarium GAO sits out near the coast and makes a useful stop on a peninsula drive, especially in poor weather. It is Akita's main aquarium, with regional marine life and the kind of family-friendly displays that break up a day of shrines and viewpoints.
The location is part of the appeal. Build it into a loop around the western side of Oga rather than treating it as a town-centre museum.
