The Ganeshthan Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Ganesh, the elephant-headed god who removes obstacles and brings good fortune to new ventures. The temple is active and well-maintained, and the surrounding neighbourhood retains some of the feel of a traditional Terai market town.
As a working temple rather than a tourist attraction, it is best visited respectfully and briefly. Dress conservatively and remove shoes before the inner precinct. The temple is most lively in the early morning and at dusk when worshippers come to pray.
