Khanpur Katora is a small junction on the main Karachi-to-Peshawar railway line, the spinal route of Pakistan Railways. The yellow-painted colonial-era station building has barely changed since it was built in the late 19th century — a single-platform stop with arched verandas, a station-master's office, and a small tea stall on the platform.
The station is a good place to watch the slow life of southern Punjab — small farmers waiting with goods bound for Karachi, the trans-country expresses thundering through twice a day, and the small local trains that connect to Rahim Yar Khan and Multan. For travellers, it remains the most pleasant way to arrive in Khanpur.
