Gori Temple

Gori Temple is the most impressive of the Nagarparkar Jain monuments. Built in the 14th century and dedicated to Parshvanatha, it stands on a raised platform of pale stone, with a forest of domes, carved pillars, and faded paintings inside.

The frescoes are the real reason to make the trip. They are often described as among the oldest surviving Jain frescoes in the northern part of the subcontinent, and their survival in this desert setting is remarkable. The temple is abandoned and fragile, so treat it as a heritage site rather than a ruin to climb over.
