Just north of Jenin, Canaan Fair Trade is the largest fair-trade olive oil producer in Palestine and the cooperative behind much of the Palestinian olive oil sold in Europe and North America. Tours of the press are possible by appointment, especially during the late-October to November harvest, when small farmers from the surrounding villages bring in their crop and the whole place smells of fresh pressing.
You can buy oil, za'atar, freekeh, and almonds directly from the showroom at producer prices. For anyone interested in the West Bank's rural economy this is one of the more useful stops in the area.
