The Giant Butaka stands near Bonifacio Park as a deliberately oversized version of Ilagan's traditional reclining armchair. The province describes it as 11 feet 4 inches high, 20 feet 8 inches long, and more than two tonnes in weight.
It is a quick photo stop, but a useful one: the butaka points to Ilagan's furniture-making history and gives the city a local symbol that is stranger and more memorable than its government buildings.
