Cape Bolinao Lighthouse

Cape Bolinao Lighthouse stands on a low, windy hill above Patar, with the South China Sea spread out below it. It is one of those simple stops that justifies the detour: white tower, scrubby headland, hard light, and a broad horizon.

Come late in the afternoon if you can. The lighthouse pairs naturally with Patar Beach, and the road between them is one of the prettiest short drives in western Pangasinan.

A story
The lighthouse was built during the American colonial period to guide ships through the western approach to Lingayen Gulf. Its hilltop position still gives one of the clearest views in Pangasinan, even if the tower itself is usually admired from outside.
