The Subangdaku River is the largest river system in Southern Leyte, draining the mountains north of Bontoc and Sogod before reaching the bay. For travellers it is less a single viewpoint than a landscape feature you notice while crossing the province.
The river also explains why this part of Southern Leyte is vulnerable to floods and landslides. Treat rural detours with respect in heavy rain, and ask locally before heading into upland barangays.
