Chungcheong Suyeongseong Fortress

Chungcheong Suyeongseong Fortress was the old naval command post for this stretch of Korea's west coast. Its stone walls were built to watch the approaches through the Yellow Sea, and the site still makes sense when you look out toward the islands and channels.

The fortress is most rewarding for travelers interested in coastal defense history. It is also a useful northern counterpoint to Daecheon Beach, showing why Boryeong's coast mattered before anyone thought of mud cosmetics.
