Makguksu

Chuncheon's buckwheat noodle speciality, usually cool, earthy, and sharper than it looks

Makguksu is Chuncheon's other essential dish: buckwheat noodles served cool, often with a spicy-sour sauce, sesame, vegetables and broth adjusted to taste. It is lighter than dakgalbi and makes more sense after a walk or summer outing.

Plenty of dakgalbi restaurants serve it, but it is worth seeking out a noodle specialist if you have more than one meal in town. The dish belongs to Gangwon's buckwheat country as much as to the city.
