Chuam Chotdaebawi Rock

Candlestick-shaped sea stack and one of Korea's classic sunrise viewpoints

Chuam Chotdaebawi Rock is the image most travellers remember from Donghae: a sharp sea stack rising like a candlestick from the surf, framed by smaller rocks and the open East Sea. It is especially loved at sunrise, when photographers line up for the light behind the rock.

The visit is short but worthwhile. Combine it with Chuam Beach and the coastal walk rather than treating it as a single photo stop.
