Donam Seowon is part of the UNESCO-listed group of Korean Neo-Confucian academies. Founded in 1634 and royally sponsored in 1660, it preserves the restrained architecture and scholarly atmosphere of the Joseon seowon tradition. It is a quiet place, but that is the point.
