Noppharat Thara Beach stretches northwest of Ao Nang and feels more local, especially away from the tour-boat piers. At low tide the sea pulls far back, leaving a broad firm beach good for walking rather than serious swimming.
It is a useful antidote to Ao Nang's busy central strip. Come in the late afternoon, when families arrive with mats and food, and the beach feels like a public park by the sea.
