Chalong Pier is the main departure point for boat trips from Phuket's southern coast. Dive boats, snorkelling day trips to Coral Island (Koh Hae), and the occasional speedboat to Phi Phi all leave from here. If you're spending any time in Chalong with plans to get on the water, you'll pass through this pier. It sits at the end of a long jetty extending into the shallows of Ao Chalong, which is too shallow for boats to dock at shore.
The pier itself is functional rather than scenic — a concrete structure with the usual cluster of tour operators, tuk-tuks, and small cafes. What makes it worthwhile is the activity: the early-morning loading of dive gear, the return of fishing boats, and the mix of travellers heading out in very different directions. The surrounding bay is good for a walk in the early evening when the light is soft and the boats are moored.
