Phu Khao Ya, often translated as Grass Hill, is a bare, rounded hill in a province otherwise known for dense wet greenery. Locals treat it as one of Ranong's signature landscapes, especially when the grass turns bright after rain.
It is a short stop rather than a major hike, but the open slopes and distant waterfall views make a good break on a loop south of town with the mangroves and hot springs.
