Wat Thung Setthi is a modern temple east of the city, built with a mix of Thai, Chinese, and contemporary decorative elements. It can feel almost theatrical, but the craftsmanship and scale make it one of Khon Kaen's better short excursions.
You need transport to get there, as it sits beyond the ordinary centre. Go if you have already seen the lake and museum, or if you enjoy modern Thai temple architecture.
