The Martyrs' Memorial Hall is the one stop that gives Mae Salong its context. It tells the story of the Kuomintang soldiers who settled here after fleeing Yunnan and later fought for Thailand. The English can be rough, but the photographs, tablets, and setting make the history hard to miss.
