The Gambier lagoon is one of the least-visited dive spots in French Polynesia, which means the coral and marine life are in exceptional condition. Visibility is consistently excellent, and the variety of sites — from shallow coral gardens to deeper passes — suits all experience levels. The lagoon also hosts the pearl farms, and a dive near the oyster lines gives an unusual perspective on how the pearls are cultivated. Ask at your accommodation about local guides; the dive infrastructure is minimal, so independent divers should bring their own equipment.
