US Army Recreation Club

The US Army garrison on Kwajalein Island maintains a recreation club — effectively a bar — available to base residents and their invited guests. It serves the social function that pubs and bars serve in civilian communities elsewhere, and is well-regarded by those who have access to it.

Ebeye has no equivalent. The Marshallese population on Ebeye has limited access to alcohol (it is a predominantly Christian community and availability is restricted), and there is no café culture of the kind you would find in a tourist destination. Social life on Ebeye centres around churches and family.

Neither facility is accessible to independent travellers.
