Eimnlapp Settlement Site

Eimnlapp is one of the named islets associated with the old Ujelang settlement area. For the Enewetak community, Ujelang was not a chosen home but a place of forced waiting, used while nuclear tests and later cleanup work transformed their own atoll.

There is little here in the conventional sightseeing sense. The importance is in the story the place carries. If you visit with Marshallese guidance, listen first; this is living community history, not just a remote ruin.

A story
Ujelang became home to Enewetak people after their own atoll was taken for American nuclear testing. The relocation was supposed to be temporary, but it lasted for decades and shaped a generation's idea of home, exile, and return.
