How We Score

World66 scores destinations on four travel dimensions: heritage, vibrancy, nature, and off the beaten track. The scores are generated from a travel-specific model, then written into each location's frontmatter so the site can render them without doing model work at request time.

The public score combines those four dimensions with extra weight on a destination's strongest and second-strongest qualities. Similar destinations are based on the model's 12 hidden travel components, stored in the search index.
