Front Street

The island has three roughly parallel north–south streets. Front Street runs along the western shore and is the social centre: tour operator offices, restaurants, bars, and small guesthouses. It's entirely walkable end-to-end in under 15 minutes and has no motor vehicles except golf carts.

Most of the fish restaurants here are open-air and serve grilled snapper, lobster (in season, June–February), and conch prepared simply. Prices are low by Caribbean standards. The best spots for eating are toward the middle of Front Street, where competition keeps quality up.

A story
Caye Caulker's 'Go Slow' motto was reportedly coined by a local artist in the 1990s and has since become the island's unofficial brand. Front Street's pace reflects it literally: the main road has no cars, just golf carts, bicycles, and occasional chickens, making it one of the more genuinely unhurried town streets in the Caribbean.
