Crooked Tree's Cashew Festival is held in early May, when the village celebrates the local harvest. Cashews turn up as juice, jelly, cakes, wine, and snacks, and the event gives visitors a reason to see the village as more than a base for the sanctuary.
It is worth timing a visit for if you are already in northern Belize. Outside festival week, the cashew story still explains a lot about the village's agricultural side.
