Laughing Bird Caye is the classic Placencia reef day: a slim sandy island offshore, clear water, coral, and enough marine life to satisfy snorkellers who do not want a long expedition. It is part of the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System and is protected as a national park.
Most visits are by guided boat trip from Placencia, often with beach time between snorkel sessions. Bring sun protection; there is little to do here except enjoy the water.
