Midland Provincial Park

Badlands park around the Royal Tyrrell Museum on former coal-mining land.

Midland Provincial Park surrounds the Royal Tyrrell Museum and protects a piece of badlands and former coal-mining country beside the Red Deer River. It is a practical place to stretch the museum visit into the landscape, with day-use areas and short walks through the dry, layered valley.

The park works best as part of the museum stop. The scenery is close at hand, and the geology makes more sense after you have seen what came out of these rocks.
