The Giants of Mining display north of Fort McMurray lets you stand beside the enormous machines that shaped early oil-sands mining. Bucketwheels, haulers, and other retired equipment make the scale of the industry easier to grasp than numbers on a panel.
It is a self-guided stop and it sits outside town, so check road conditions and combine it with other oil-sands interpretation if you can. The point is scale: these machines make the word "industrial" feel physical.
