Sir Winston Churchill Provincial Park

Island provincial park with old-growth forest, beaches, trails, and bird life

Sir Winston Churchill Provincial Park protects the islands in the east basin of Lac la Biche. Big Island and Long Island are linked to the shore by a causeway, so you can reach the forest, beaches, picnic areas, and trails without a boat.

The park is the easiest outdoor day from town. Come for swimming and paddling in summer, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter, or birdwatching almost any time the lake is open. The mix of island forest and open water makes it feel more distinctive than a standard roadside campground.
