Kiix̣in is the deepest reason to take Bamfield seriously. The Huu-ay-aht site preserves standing remains of a traditional village on the coast between Bamfield and Cape Beale, and Parks Canada recognises it as a National Historic Site.
Access depends on current Huu-ay-aht arrangements, and tours may not always operate. If it is open, treat it as a cultural visit rather than a casual ruin walk; if it is closed, the story still changes how you read the coast around Bamfield.
