Juniper Beach Provincial Park lies on the north shore of the Thompson River, about 19 km east of Cache Creek. It protects a dry landscape of sagebrush, prickly pear cactus, juniper, and eroded post-glacial deposits, which makes it feel very different from the forested image many travellers have of British Columbia.
The park is mostly used for camping, fishing, photography, and watching trains pass along the river corridor. It is not a dramatic wilderness, but it is a good short stop if you want to see the dry Thompson country up close.
