Fernie Alpine Resort is the headline reason many travellers come: five alpine bowls, more than 2,500 acres of skiable terrain, and a reputation for heavy powder. It is steep enough for strong skiers but not only for experts, with tree runs, groomers, and a base area that stays much quieter than the big-name coastal resorts.
Summer brings lift-accessed mountain biking and hiking. If you are crossing the Rockies outside ski season, the resort is still worth the short drive for the valley views and trail access.
