Gold Creek Falls

Gold Creek Falls is one of the most accessible and rewarding short hikes in the park. The trail to the Lower Falls is about four kilometres return and gains little elevation, making it suitable for families with children. The falls themselves drop into a clear pool framed by old-growth cedar and fir.

A steeper branch continues to the Upper Falls, adding a few kilometres and several hundred metres of climbing. Both falls are at their fullest in May and June. In summer the creek calms and the pools below the lower falls become popular for wading. The trailhead is near the Gold Creek Campground, the only campground in the park open year-round.

A story
Gold Creek runs year-round but its falls are most impressive in spring, when snowmelt from the high peaks turns the creek into a rushing torrent. The Lower Falls are accessible on a short trail; the Upper Falls require a steeper climb and reward with a longer cascade that most day visitors never see.
